TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy
Great White
Well the times are getting’ hard
For you little girl
I’m a-hummin’ and a-strummin’
All over God’s world
You can’t remember when
You got your last meal
And you don’t know
Just how a woman feels
You didn’t know what
Rock ‘n’ roll was
Until you met my drummer
On a grey tour bus
I got there in the nick of time
Before he got his hands
Across your state line

Now it’s the middle of the night
On the open road
The heater don’t work
And it’s oh so cold
You’re lookin’ tired
You’re lookin’ kinda beat
The rhythm of the street
Sure knocks you off your feet
You didn’t know how rock ‘n’ roll looked
Until you caught your sister
With the guys from the group
Halfway home in the parkin’ lot
By the look in her eye
She was givin’ what she got

I said
My
My
My
Once bitten
Twice shy babe
My
My
My
Once bitten
Twice shy babe
My
My
My
Once bitten
Twice shy babe

Woman you’re a mess
Gonna die in your sleep
There’s blood on my amp
And my Les Paul’s beat
Can’t keep you home
You’re messin’ around
My best friend told me
You’re the best lick in town
You didn’t know that rock ‘n’ roll burned
So you bought a candle
And you lived and you learned
You got the rhythm
You got the speed
Mama’s little baby
Likes it short and sweet

I say
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy babe
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy babe
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy babe

I didn’t know you had a rock ‘n’ roll record
Until I saw your picture
On another guy’s jacket
You told me I was the only one
But look at you now
It’s dark and you’re gone

Oh
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy babe
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy baby
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy baby
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy babe
I said
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy baby
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy baby
My
My
My
I’m once bitten
Twice shy baby

The Angel Song
Great White

Fallen angel ripped and bruised
Think on better days
Life is rude
Treats you bad
Tears your wings away
Raise your eyes to star and sky
Believe in fly aways
Take your dreams
Your broken schemes
And sweep the past away

Fly lonely angel
High above these streets of fire
Fly lonely angel
Far away from mad desire

Hollywood ain’t paved with gold
It’s just a trick of light
Sunset falls on stars of old
And blinds you with it’s light
A spiders web of tangled lives
Lays stretched across the hills
From distances
It’s glistening
Like El Dorado’s halls

Fly lonely angel
High above these streets of fire
Fly lonely angel
Leave behind the mad desire

The dream was light
And fragrant nights
But how were you to know
The streets are hard
They’re mean and scarred
Where only fools find gold

Fly lonely angel
High above these streets of fire
Fly lonely angel
Leave behind the mad desire

Fly lonely angel
Spread your wings another way
Fly lonely angel
Find a better way
A better day

  1. It's good to see someone else who appreciates a few Great White songs. They're very underrated. The lesser known Angel Song has always been one of my favorites.

  2. Wow. I feel like it's 1988 all over again...

  3. Thanks, my dear Ratty!!! I am ashamed to admit that "The Angel Song" is also a favorite song of mine, but I had no idea that it was by Great White until just recently. In fact, "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" is the only song that I easily recognize as being their's, which is arguable (right, Ian Hunter?). Then I also "find" the videos for "House of Broken Love," and "Love Is A Lie" on YouTube! Oh my, senility is not being shy at all towards me.

  4. Does anyone really know what time it is, my dear TNS Hawg???
